TELUS Spark is relaunching its Beakerhead festival under a new name this year - Petri Dish - and it runs November 6 through 8. Friday night's opening, Beakernight, is an 18+ ticketed party, but Saturday flips the script completely: the science centre is open 10am to 10pm with free admission, tickets handed out at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sunday keeps things going with regular paid admission ($10 adults, $5 kids) from 9am to 4pm, plus a Saturday afternoon "Seven Wonders of Science" talk series over at the University of Calgary. If you've got curious kids, Saturday is the day to go.
