17th Avenue turns into a free outdoor Halloween carnival on October 23 and 24 at Tomkins Park. Saturday afternoon (Carnival Classics, 3-7 p.m.) is built for families, with trick-or-treating from 3 to 5 p.m. and daytime performers, while things shift into an adults-leaning after-dark carnival from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday night's Monster's Ball (8-11 p.m.) kicks the weekend off.
Admission is free and tickets are handled at the door — no advance registration needed. Expect paid parking in the area, so budget a bit of extra time if you're driving in.
